Sport and recreation for English Language Students in Edinburgh

Edinburgh is a big city and if you like sport then there is a lot you can do here.  What do you like?  Football, cricket, rugby, swimming, athletics, rock-climbing, horse-riding, tennis?  You can enjoy these and lots more!

Football, the world’s most played game, is hugely popular here. Lots of people play and/or go to watch one of the city’s two big professional teams – Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian.  You can find more about football in Edinburgh here.

Swimming, keep-fit, athletics and other energetic sports are well catered for too.  Have a look at this link for more information.

If you simply like walking, especially in beautiful countryside, then there are many places you can go in and around Edinburgh.  See this link, and also look at our ‘Trips around Scotland’ page.

The teachers are very friendly – it’s not like a school! They help you with any questions you have; not just about English but about Edinburgh and Scotland. The classes are small so they have a lot of time for each student. They have definitely helped me improve my English.
