IELTS Preparation Academic

The IELTS Academic English qualification is frequently required for university and college entrance. As a guide, entry to a university course requires an IELTS score of 6.0 - 7.0 and college courses require IELTS 5.0. The test covers Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing.

This course covers the language skills and exam techniques to prepare students for the exam. Each class focuses on a different skill (listening, speaking, reading and  writing) and incorporates special examination techniques. Your teacher will ask you to complete additional homework tasks and you will also be expected to do several hours of self-study per week.

The Speaking test will either be after a break on the same day as the other three tests, or up to a week before or after the other tests. This will depend on your test centre.

You can sit the IELTS examination all over the world. There is a test centre in Edinburgh but you can sit the test in the location that suits you best. You can use this link to the IELTS website to find a suitable test location. We are happy to help you to select  a test centre and to apply for the examination.

The teachers are very friendly – it’s not like a school! They help you with any questions you have; not just about English but about Edinburgh and Scotland. The classes are small so they have a lot of time for each student. They have definitely helped me improve my English.
