Global School of English is accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English. The British Council is an independent body dedicated to promoting British culture and education throughout the world. Accreditation confirms that the school environment, our administrative procedures and, most importantly, the quality of our teaching meet with the exacting requirements of the British Council Accreditation UK scheme. Global School of English was last inspected in July 2015. You can see the full report by clicking here.
Global School of English is a member of English UK. English UK is the world’s leading language teaching association with over 450 members. A key condition of membership is that all members hold accreditation from the British Council under the Accreditation UK scheme. This scheme is managed by the British Council in partnership with English UK.
Our sponsor licence number is 18EC8KTJ1 and we are listed on the current Tier 4 Register of Sponsors. To become a Tier 4 Sponsor we had to demonstrate an existing track record of recruiting only genuine students, who are fully focused on improving their English language skills, attending their lessons and completing their course in full. We also require to ensure that we only sponsor genuine students who require a Tier 4 visa to enter the UK. We therefore have systems and processes in place to assess every application very carefully before a decision is made to issue a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) which allows a student to apply for a Tier 4 visa.
An important condition of remaining a UKVI Tier 4 Sponsor is that a satisfactory ‘Educational Oversight’ inspection is obtained to demonstrate that Global School of English is a genuine educational provider and offers an appropriate learning environment for international students. As a result our organisation was inspected by Education Scotland in December 2012, when we were evaluated against the Education Scotland quality framework. Education Scotland is a Scottish Government body that is responsible for the inspection and review of schools and colleges in Scotland. The inspection looked at the quality of our organisation and the learning experience provided, with the end result being a detailed, independent report. The full report from October 2012 can be accessed at by clicking here.
The International Association of Language Centres (IALC) was established in 1983 and is an association of leading independent language schools worldwide that teach the language of their country. All IALC accredited schools are regularly inspected and monitored under the IALC Quality Scheme. Membership is exclusive to independently owned language schools that are not part of any of the large “chains.” At the moment schools from 22 countries and representing over 100 destinations are part of IALC. The sister school of Global School of English, Glasgow School of English, is also a member of IALC
Global Connections (Scotland) Limited, the company that owns and runs Global School of English, operates a quality management system which has been independently accredited by the British Standards Institute (BSI) since 2006, as complying with the internationally recognised quality management system standard, BS EN ISO 9001:2008. Global School of English has been included within the scope of this registration since 2011. In summary this means operating the school in such a way that we are continuously striving to enhance the satisfaction of our students by understanding their requirements and continuously improving the ways in which we do things. We have in place a series of processes and procedures which are regularly reviewed and improved as the requirements of students change.
The school is Bildungsurlaub approved for the Rhineland Palatinate, Hessen and Saarland regions of Germany. This means that any German employee from these regions can come and study English in Scotland with us, while still receiving full pay from their employer. Please contact us if you would like to learn more about this scheme and how it can help you learn or improve your English.
