Location of Scotland

Scotland forms part of the United Kingdom, which also includes England, Wales and Northern Ireland. In geographical terms, Scotland covers the northern half of the British mainland. It is surrounded by sea on three sides: to the west and north by the Atlantic Ocean and on the east by the North Sea. The capital city of Scotland is Edinburgh; and the capital of the UK is London, which is just a one hour flight from Edinburgh.

Attractions

Scotland is a country blessed with a wealth of natural beauty. From spectacular mountain scenery to golden beaches and sparkling fresh water lochs, Scotland offers tremendous opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. Edinburgh, Scotland's capital city, is ideally located for those wishing to see more of Scotland. The following places are all easily accessible from Edinburgh, with its excellent transport links:

  • Glasgow and the the West Coast of Scotland
  • The Scottish Borders
  • St Andrews - the home of golf
  • Northumberland and County Durham in North East England
  • Perth and the Scottish Highlands
  • Stirling Castle and Wallace Monument
